Southwest Concrete Paving - Concrete Batch Plant Supervisor

The Batch Plant Supervisor will supervise employees and perform any combination of following duties in a concrete mixing plant: Daily plant inspections, preventative and minor repair maintenance; operation of the loader; operation of the batching process. The Batch Plant Supervisor will ensure proper documentation of all incoming materials daily. MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision of employees: Interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, handling complaints, disciplining with the authority to hire, fire or make recommendations for employment actions
• Responsible for the operation of concrete batching process to insure the correct amount and sizes of aggregates and proportions of cement, additives, and water required for concrete are added
• Participates in making sure the quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards
• Follows procedures set in place to correct any deficiencies in plant operation
• Interacts with sales team and customer service to ensure product meets specifications
• Ensures assigned established performance indicators are met
• Works toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area
• Follows established procedures to ensure that the plant for which he/she is responsible is in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements
• Participates in on-going minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment
• Confers with plant supervisor, other supervisory personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Ensures that safety, compliance and environmental requirements are followed at all times
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related batch plant experience
  • Excellent oral (telephone) communication skills; bi-lingual communications skills are a plus; ability to professionally interact with internal and external customers
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time; able to prioritize work; strong organization skills
  • Experience with dispatch systems, personal computer, telephone
  • Light mechanical experience WORKING CONDITIONS:
    
    Working in a climate-controlled room but at times may be required to go outside and be exposed to airborne particles, outside weather conditions; moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate but at times may be exposed to loud noises.
    
    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
    • Ability to wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
