Manager Facilities Services - West campusArizona State UniversityFDM FM WestCampus: West81719BR--Job DescriptionFacilities Management,West campus, seeks a Manager Facilities Services to coordinate and manageunit-wide administrative functions, through subordinate supervisors, the workactivities of facilities management employees. Candidates should have a strong balanceof leadership skills and work collaboratively to successfully lead, mentor, andmotivate a diverse workforce.--Salary RangeTo be determined ASUoffers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona--Close Date01-August-2022--Essential DutiesProvide day to dayleadership and ensure accountability of operational teams by effectivelymanaging, mentoring, supervising and evaluating department staff. Manage anddirect the facilities maintenance team of multi-craft employees (e.g., plumbing,electrical, HVAC, and carpentry), including maintenance and operation of allphysical assets. Assist with coordination and assistance on facilityrenovations, maintenance operations, project management and scheduling,contract administration and quality assurance, construction, code compliance offacilities. Manage facilities budget and monitor performance of budget. Utilizework order system to review, assign, approve and close work requests. Utilizefinancial system to document and approve purchase card transaction. Developprograms, practices, and procedures for assigned facilities units to provideeffective, efficient and safe methods of operation. Compile information forbudget estimates and special projects. Inspect facilities management work in progress.Set employee standards and department goals. Inspect work accomplishments andjob progress to ensure conformance to established standards. Develop departmentstrategic plans. Assist with all aspects of campus facilities planning,including identification, development, and implementation of plans to meetshort- and long-range physical needs. As an empathetic team member, makedecisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees.Maintain effective working relationships with administrators of universityacademic, research and support services units as well as various agencies andorganizations, including professional societies, and state and local planning,maintenance and educational agencies. Ensure all applicable federal, state andArizona Board of Regents laws, regulations, policies and procedures arefollowed. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.--DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday -Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m--Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree inBusiness Administration or a related field and five (5) years of relatedexperience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR,Nine(9) years of related experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisoryexperience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education fromwhich comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Desired QualificationsFive years ofprogressively responsible supervisory experience.--Experience in:--- Higher education and/orother large commercial building environment--- Supervising amulti-craft shop--- Commercial or industrialHVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or carpentry--- Budgetary and planningoversight--Demonstrated knowledge of:--- Maintenance operationsand maintenance budgets--- Campus housingmaintenance operations and budgets--- Custodial operations--- Local, state and federalbuilding codes--- Worker order systems--- Facilities managementprinciples and techniques--- Practices and techniquesof supervision and management--- MS office (e.g., Word,Excel, Outlook)--- Customer Service--EPA/CFC certification.Evidence of effectiveinterpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Working EnvironmentActivities are performedin a variety of internal and external settings. Access various facilities andsites which involves walking, climbing stairs or ladders, standing and walkingon uneven surfaces for long periods of time in extreme temperatures. Activitiesrequire bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, stretching, climbing,crawling and lifting up to 25 pounds. Participate in fieldwork, which requiresexposure to direct, dust, and inclement weather. Fieldwork may also includeexposure to central plant equipment and systems in a loud environment; dirtyenvironment with inadequate lighting, extreme noise, confined spaces (e.g.,tunnels, vaults), and restricted movement. Climb stairs, ladders andscaffolding at heights above thirty (30) feet. May be exposed to hazardous anddangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautionsand/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of PersonalProtection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negativepressure and positive pressure respirator). Use of PPE may require medical clearanceprior to use. May also perform some activities in an environmentally controlledoffice setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding andmanipulating a computer mouse. Must be physically and mentally fit to respondto emergency situations. Specific vision requirements include close vision,distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjustand focus in dimly lit areas. Regular activities require ability to quicklychange priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution ofconflicts. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hearto perform essential functions.
