The Activities Coordinator (AC) is an integral part of the
StreetLightUSAs residential programming team. The Activity
Coordinator is vital to the sourcing, scheduling, and organizing of
program activities; both recreational and therapeutic. This
Activities Coordinator is tasked with cultivating and maintain
external partner relationships including, but not limited to;
volunteers, services groups, donors, and preferred vendors.
This job requires a someone who is highly motivated, organized,
responsive, teamwork/strength-based driven, and most importantly
passionate about the mission and work of StreetLightUSA. The
Activities Coordinator needs to possess strong independent skills
and team based working dynamics, as well as strong organization and
program implementation abilities.
Background cleared of any criminal offenses disqualifying
employment (i.e.: Sexual abuse of a minor, first or second-degree
murder, sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a minor, felony drug
offenses, robbery, dangerous crime against children, etc.).
Associates Degree or higher in Social Science, Recreational
Therapy, or related field preferred (Minimum Requirement: High
School Diploma or Equivalent)
2 years or more of social services, non-profit, or community
Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
Physical Exam clearing work with no restrictions- reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities
to perform essential functions.
Documentation of clearance from communicable diseases
(Tuberculosis- updated annually).
Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention and Intervention or
equivalent certification preferred.

Essential Duties and
Collaborate with The Sanctuary (TS) management team to ensure that
residents needs and interests are utilized in the activity
Support team with the preparation and organization of new client
welcome baskets- to be ready and available during initial intake of
Collaborate with Director of Programs to ensure that activities and
groups (to include curriculums) are CSEC and trauma
Collaborate with Director of Pastoral Care Services to ensure
ongoing scheduling of Christ Centered Services.
Collaborate with Director of Programs in managing Healing Arts
Curriculum (both programs).
Maintain community partner relationship with HEAL International to
ensure ongoing Healthy Relationship classes (both programs).
Maintain relationship with Horses Help and other specialty
therapeutic service group facilitators to ensure ongoing services
(e.g. Gabriels Angels, Healing Vibes, Trauma Healing Yoga)
Ongoing management and distribution of TS weekly cottage calendars
(bi-weekly submittal for staff and resident use).
Support the Behavior Support and Incentive Program operations ex:
restocking the store with inventory, facilitating client shopping,
Collaborate with Lighted Paths Activity Coordinator for use of
shared spaces and activity equipment.
Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to onboard TS volunteer
activity facilitators and community partners providing activity
services to residents.
Collect, Log, and Report on TS Volunteer Services to grant
Main point of contact for TS activity volunteers, as it pertains to
activity components/schedules/breaks/needs and/or concerns.
Source and schedule TS recreational activities in the
Manage monthly TS activities budget.
Maintain TS inventory of art/activity supplies and equipment (can
be delegated to volunteer).
Collaborate with fund development department to source/procure
supplies for art/activity projects.
Manage TS book and movie inventory; and oversee screening and
approval of books and movies by volunteers.
Collaborate with TS Activity Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator,
and Fund Development Team for Holiday Special Events.
Prepare TS activity kits and instructions for volunteer/staff
facilitators and residents (can be deferred to volunteer).
Plan and organize cultural diversity events to be integrated into
Facilitate/lead recreational activities in an engaging and
motivating style to promote resident engagement.
Prepare alternate activities ahead of time to respond to
intermittent last-minute changes in milieu climate.
Model and train staff/volunteer activity facilitators to enhance
resident motivation and engagement.
Conduct campus orientation to new TS activity volunteers.
Primary point of contact for TS activity volunteers for on-campus
needs (to include greeting volunteers, campus/room/supply access,
call-offs, immediate needs).
Ensure that TS volunteer facilitators log in and submit any
Review TS shift reports to track level of engagement in activities
and groups; modify activities/groups as needed in collaboration
with the Activities Coordinator.
Manage use, safety, and clean-up of shared activity areas, to
include outdoor areas used in recreational activities.
Prepare and facilitate activities for special events/holidays.
Collaborate with Kitchen Services Staff for special event/holiday
Other duties as assigned and related to position.
