successful team.POSITION SCOPEThe Heavy Equipment Mechanic will
manage all aspects of equipment maintenance and repair for concrete
paving projects. This position will be a traveling position where
the qualified applicant will be required to integrate and travel
with a paving crew to assist in all assigned functions. The
individual must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced work
environment. Some night and weekend work will be required. Per Diem
when applicable PRIMARY DUTIES
Above all, insure that safe practices
are followed in all aspects of daily
activitiesDiagnose/troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and
electrical issues accurately the first time; identify parts needed
for repairsRead schematics, diagrams, blue prints, etc. to assist
with repairs and/or diagnosticsDiagnose complex electric,
hydraulic, and mechanical issuesRemove, replace, and repair major
components on all types of paving and heavy construction
equipmentPerform routine services on heavy equipmentPerform on-site
repairs in the field as needed in a fast-paced environmentDocument
and record work performed and parts usedCommunicate with equipment
operators to assess machine performanceSome weekend and night work
may be requiredTravel will be requiredMaintain a clean and
organized work environmentOther duties as assignedThis position
requires a person who is self-motivated, professional, and willing
to be a team playerSWCP pays California wages and Davis Bacon rates
when applicable BACKGROUND
Must be able to pass a pre-employment
drug and alcohol test as well as random testsMust be able to pass a
Dept. of Defense background screening (No Felonies)Performs other
duties as instructed by supervisor. Will report to site
superintendent or project manager when assigned to jobsiteFull time
permanent positionMust have at least 1-year experience in working
on heavy equipment and commercial trucksExperience with working on
dump trucks and mixers preferredMust have safe driving recordMust
be willing to travel 25% Must be able to work days, nights, or
weekendsMust have own toolsEXPERIENCE
High school or equivalent
(Preferred)Heavy Equipment Mechanic: 5 years (Preferred)Truck
Mechanic: 1 year (Preferred)Basic welding skills, stick and
wireSome Computer Skills - basic knowledge of third party CAT, and
similar programsStrong hydraulic and electric over hydraulic
LICENSE
ASE Certification (Preferred)CDL
Certified (Preferred)Obtain DOT health Card (Required)Southwest
